Free flight planes are something you spend $15 to $25 on, fill with fuel or charge the batteries, start the engine, toss into the wind, then go to the store and buy another one because you can't find the one you just tossed.
Ok, not always. Sometimes they are a lot of fun. If you can get the rudder adjusted so the plane will fly in a circular path, they can be really cool. Unfortunately, they can be lost before this happens. If you have a really large open area this may not be such an issue.

We've had a lot of fun with this one.
It survived being "lost" outside for the entire winter - under three feet of snow -
and flew again in the spring.
